The City of New Haven has launched a new website to showcase the transformative project known as "Downtown Crossing".

In short, the project will transform Route 34 East in New Haven from highway stubs and ramps to street-scale urban boulevards. The new boulevards will connect the downtown business and government centers to the active Medical District, which was separated from the heart of downtown when the highway was created.

The project will reclaim 10 acres of land, which will be made for developments into retail, residential, and medical facilities. These developments will enable the Downtown Crossing Project to achieve its goal of making a livable, walkable community while providing local and regional connectivity.
